GRADUATE SEMINAR ASSIGNMENT

What do you want from New Media Studio ?
Who do you want to meet through New Media Studio?

What I want from New Media Studio; as I’ve searched New Media Studio website, it emphasizes that students from different artistic back grounds can choose this major. It also says students can study combination of subjects.  There exists many subjects that I am interested in and I want to use them in my Capstone project. I expect New Media gives me the opportunity to learn new areas. I really do not like the idea of limiting myself to just the things that I’ve known before.  There are some subjects that I love to learn but they are new for me, so I want this program to give me both the basic and advanced information about certain topics.

Who I want to meet through new Media Studio; since my undergraduate degree is industrial design one of the faculty members who I am interested in listening to his ideas, is Prof. James Wronecki. From outside of ETSU, generally I would like to meet successful artists in digital media specially those who have a main job other than teaching at university. I want to know more about the possible future job positions in this field. I believe getting to know more people and their work in digital world would help me to choose my Capstone project’s subject more wisely.

GRADUATE SEMINAR ASSIGNMENT

Destruction art

For my first assignment in Graduate Seminar class which was destruction or street art, I decided to tell a short story.
It shows a person who had lots of opportunities to survive but he didn't use any of them; as a result he lost all things, even himself.

He sits by the sea
The boats seem perfect

He doesn't go

After some time, boats are drowning

He does nothing

Everything was lost, even himself

Nothing remains, all gone

My art life at a glance

I am Sare Mobtaker. I come from Iran; an Asian country with lots of traditional breathtaking works of art.

My interest in Art came into light many years ago when I was a child giving my paintings as gifts to my parents. At that time I participated in some artistic classes.

My undergraduate major is Industrial Design 2006-2009 Alzahara University, Tehran, Iran.

My experience during these years embraces web design, model making with wood, metal and plastic, interior design with 3D’s Max, photography and drawing.

I passed my internship at Bahman Group Company (one of the best pioneers in Automobile Manufacturing, performing commercial and investment activities) in R&D department, working on aerodynamic design of “Mazda” truck.

Working in KOOCH institute a private entity in which group of experts study and search in the field of children’s learning, designing new games and redesigning old traditional games was also an interesting part of my career.

In 2013 I had admitted by ETSU for M.A. in New Media Studio. I believe the opportunity of studying at ETSU with extremely distinguished faculty, useful curriculum and mesmerizing high facilities and related high tech equipments would be a new horizon in my career life.

These are some of my works between 2006 to 2009.
